Mrs. Dean Shaw Adams, 89, of Hartwell, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2019 at her home.
Born on March 3, 1930 in Colbert, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Sam L. Shaw and Lola Mae Prather Shaw. Mrs. Adams was the loving wife of Jim Tom Adams for 40 years before his death in 1986. She was employed for 25 years at the Economy Drug Store before retiring and was a faithful member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Debra Cowart (Benje) of Thomson, Ga.; two sons: Rev. J. Eddie Adams of Hartwell and Kenneth L. Adams (Dona) of Cullman, Ala.; a brother, Hugh Shaw of Silver Springs, Md.; a granddaughter, Kristi Amick; two grandsons: Kevin Cowart (Brittini) and Tommy Adams and two great-grandsons: Hunter Amick and Bentley Cowart also survive. Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; a son, Tommy Adams; three sisters: Mary "Jim" Tate, Edna Phillips and Arleen Starrett and two brothers: Billy Shaw and Boyd Shaw.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 2, in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with the Rev. Hulon Bryant and Rev. Richard Jarvis officiating. Burial was in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
